More About Our Evaluation Services:
Comprehensive Neurological Assessments
We provide in-depth evaluations to understand how brain function influences thinking, behavior, and emotion. Assessments examine a wide range of abilities, including attention, working memory, processing speed, language, visuospatial skills, executive functioning, problem solving, memory, motor dexterity, and emotional regulation.
Neuropsychological assessment is especially valuable in clarifying concerns such as cognitive decline following a sports-related concussion, changes related to medical complications like epilepsy, or the onset of neurodegenerative conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
These assessments not only clarify diagnoses but, more importantly, generate evidence-based recommendations that support treatment planning, rehabilitation, educational and occupational needs, and strategies to improve day-to-day functioning and overall quality of life.
Neurodevelopmental & Psychoeducational Evaluations
Our evaluations help identify learning styles, highlight areas of neurodivergence, and uncover challenges that may be affecting a student’s academic performance. The goal is to unlock each learner’s potential and support ongoing growth and progress.
We provide comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for students of all ages, evaluating for ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, specific learning disorders, and other barriers to academic success. Reports include tailored recommendations for classroom placement, curriculum planning, evidence-based interventions, access to external resources, and appropriate classroom or testing accommodations.
These evaluations can serve as Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs) requested by a school district, or as formal assessments supporting accommodations for standardized testing (e.g., SAT, MCAT, California Board examinations). Dr. Miranda also presents findings in IEP meetings, helping families and educators translate assessment results into meaningful educational supports.
Worker’s Compensation & Medical Legal Evaluations
We provide objective, evidence-based neuropsychological assessments for workers’ compensation, disability claims, and other medical-legal matters. Reports are carefully tailored for attorneys, case managers, and insurance providers to support informed decision-making.
Our evaluations assist in characterizing the severity of a traumatic brain injury, clarifying current functional abilities, determining the causation of functional decline, identifying external contributing factors, and outlining prognosis. Recommendations may address return-to-work considerations, workplace accommodations, and treatment needs to support ongoing rehabilitation.
Psychodiagnostic Evaluations
Accurately identifying a psychological or psychiatric diagnosis is essential for effective treatment planning. Psychodiagnostic assessments clarify complex presentations, differentiate between overlapping conditions, and provide an objective foundation for selecting appropriate interventions.
In addition to diagnostic clarification, these evaluations can be used to monitor progress and measure response to treatment over time.
Common referral questions include distinguishing between Major Depressive Disorder and Persistent Depressive Disorder, clarifying anxiety and panic disorders, evaluating for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), or differentiating mood instability associated with Bipolar Disorder.
Our assessments integrate clinical interviews, standardized measures, and evidence-based tools to provide clear, actionable recommendations that support both treatment providers and patients in moving toward improved outcomes.
